Sri Venkateswara University (SV), Tirupati, is a State University, which was established in 1954, in the famous temple town of Tirupati, South India, under the auspices of late Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and with the support of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The University started with six departments: Chemistry, physics, mathematics, Botany, zoology, economics and philosophy. University has 58 departments, in which 71 different PG and several diplomas and certificates courses are run with a total academic faculty of 400 to 1500 non-teacher and a staff student 5000, including research. The University was accredited with a grade of "A +" by National accreditation and assessment Council (NAAC).
